I dunno man. I would say, for sure, replace Eric Comrie with, say, Henri Jokiharju... but otherwise, swapping Huberdeau with Skinner, who only has two years remaining after this, and can score more goals, would be a good move, to me.

On top of that, getting rid of Markstrom to allow Wolf to take over just makes sense, and then swapping Weegar for Jack Quinn and picks? That's a huge win in my mind. Weegar is a great defenceman, yes, but Hunter B will take over for him soon enough, and getting Quinn for right wing would be huge.

I'm sure Buffalo would be grateful to have Weegar, but they already have Byram, Dahlin and Power who will all take up big chunks of cap space on the D in due time... and I'm also sure they would prefer not to be saddled with Huberdeau's contract, especially if it means losing Jack Quinn.... furthermore, Luukkonen has been stellar for them since he took over the starter's role, and next season, Luukkonen playing with Levi as his back-up is a better bet than taking on two more years of 34 year old Markstrom. I think Buffalo says no before Calgary does (if we can get Comrie swapped for Jokiharju in the deal).

Comrie is of no vlaue he's UFA this summer and Calgary doesn't need another goalie anyhow. Jokiharju replacing Comrie would make the offer better but I'd still turn it down. Skinner I don't want, I'd rather bet on Huberdeau returning to form (or close enough) eventually (he has been playing much better lately) than count on Skinner being good in a new environment.

Quinn is easily the most valuable Buffalo asset in this trade he'd be fine as the main piece, Jokiharju would be a nice add and the mid 2nd would be decent but the rest is underwhelming for Weegar and Markstrom.

I firmly believe Calgary needs to keep Weegar unless we get one of those offers that just can't be refused and this isn't that. Not just because he's a very good two way defenseman but because having a veteran defenseman around with as much grit, leadership and physicality as he has is going to be very important the next few years.

Pretty much what it boils down to for me is while getting Quinn would be nice it's not worth losing Weegar at this time. I'd consider trading Andersson before Weegar. Not because I think Weegar is more valuable but because Andersson would fetch a better return and I believe we need to keep Weegar more than Andersson.

This trade makes no sense for Buffalo as they don’t need a veteran, expensive goaltender, and that’s the best thing you’re offering outside of Weegar. UPL has been more than good enough, and they already have Levi who can play games behind him. Huberdeau is a complete waste of money, at least Skinner produces. Plus, he has a full no movement clause and probably isn’t going to agree to go anywhere.
