Size matters not

Description
Size is overrated.

1. As long as the best player will be undersized, people will think their team is too small.

2. Toughness is not same as size

3. NJD are young…not small. As players develop, they will fill out a bit. Here are our current NHL ranks.
- Height: 8th
- Weight: 15th
- Age: 26th

Adding physicality is needed…but shouldn’t be the top priority

(Blankenburg is group 6 UFA)

Every year, finalists are loaded with important heavy Ds & Fs to survive the battle royal by wearing opponents out. I'm glad you don't agree or see that

But they are not finalists because they have heavy players.

There are plenty of big teams that don't reach playoffs.
And plenty of good playoff teams that aren't big.

Florida, finalists last year, was 29th heaviest team.
Colorado won cup as one of the smaller teams.

But if you only consider the success and ignore the failures then it's true 100% of the time

Everyone threw BOS under the bus after Berg & Kreci, yet their heavy team is perennial, FLA is gritty & dirty, STL TBL WSH etc... all had hard to play against fellas.

There's a difference between good regular season teams and playoff teams

it really depends who you play and how they play you.
You could look at the two recent penguins cup runs and say the same thing....or look at how the islanders played them and bullied them all over the ice and they lost.

If a team thinks it can get away with it, it will try. You either have to play through it, or dish it back out on their star players so they see the cost of it. Those are just facts.
But when refs turn a blind eye and the other team gets away with whatever they want, then even if you win, you are usually hurt and missing players for the later rounds.
It is what it is. All I know is it's hard to play hockey when you're laying flat on the ice because you're getting pounded into the boards.
