Yes and Matthew got a massive return despite only wanting to go to 4 teams . And guys like Necas + , Kyrou + and 2nd overall + were all being offered.

And Not many teams wanted Meier due to his contract demands and could fit him in. And SJ only wanted rebuilding pieces

NJD offered 2nd overall. Not 2nd overall+.

The difference between Meier's contract and Brady's contract is 600k. If teams can't fit Meier in, then they can't fit Tkachuk in. And every team could fit Meier in at 3 mill for the 1 year.

Again. 4 teams in a bidding war for Matthew results in a much higher price than 20 teams in a bidding war for Brady.

Because as people keep trying to explain to you, 8 years of Matthew at 9.5 is SO much more valuable than 4 years of Brady at 8.2.

For example. Moving Nemec for Matthew would have helped new jersey long term. So NJD offered Nemec.
Moving nemec for 4 years of brady will not help NJD. So NJD will not offer nemec. And it does not matter how many other teams are bidding.

4 bidders is still a bidding war.

4 years is a long time . No one ever trades for a guy and says we only have him for 4 years

Trading Brady to get Hamilton makes 0 sense .

You claimed he would only be moved for a top pairing RD.

But let me guess, this superstar RD you want also has to be 20 years old and cost 900k. Teams don't trade those assets in the salary cap era.

Simple as this. If Florida offered Matthew for Brady, you would say yes without a second thought.

And that's only 6 years of Matthew. Now you still have to pay for the difference going forward AND the extra 2 years that Matthew played in florida. The gap is astronomical

Yeah and the difference is not the Sens getting Casey , a protected 1st next year and probably a meh roster player. That would be terrible for ottawa and would get the GM fired

My comp there was actually a top 10 pick, Seamus casey, and a conditional 2nd that can become a 1st.

The gap between picks means you are getting a 1st in value more than the Meier trade, because Tkachuk is younger.

Go keep Tkachuk then. The offers go down, not up as he gets closer to UFA

Casey is the issue , the Sens do not want another Erik Brannstrom on the roster nor value him that highly because of height.

If it was Willander, 10th overall and another 1st , that I’d accept and would be similar to the Jones trade

Ahh yes I forgot your prospect analysis doesn't go deeper than looking at a players height and weight

It would again be more akin conditional 1st considering the seth jones trade had another 1st sent back to CBJ and a 2nd involved.

But sure, WIllander+10th+conditional 1st would be reasonable.
