As a Habs fan...no thank you
That's basically 5 1st rd picks and 3 2nds.
And that 2025 pick is likely also a lottery piece

Too much, at this point it's not worth it. Just keep the pick and draft best available

That is horrible for Montreal. Celebrini is great but he hasn't even played a game yet

Sharks need a future star and a former Jr. Shark and 1st OA draft pick really provides that.
This is a massive haul for a guy who never played
an NHL game but not sure it’s smart for either club

This is a horrible trade for Montreal. And I know that they won’t actually do it but I think the sharks should legitimately consider a deal with Montreal for a bit less. They need quality but they also need quantity. We could offer a decent amount of legit prospects plus flipping our pick and they’d still definitely be in the drivers seat for top 3 next year. Again they won’t do it but they probably should.

Grier is not trading #1 overall. Plus we would not sentence Celebrini to Canada

thanks for the comments. Maybe it is too much but he is a franchise player and this is what Mtl needs. We have a lot of assets to work with. It was just an example. IMO he is more complete than Bedard.

What would be fair for you then. It was an example. Don't just criticize please.

The Sharks won’t do this deal and they shouldn’t. There, fixed that for you. Honestly, what is it with Habs fans and thinking the Sharks should just gift them their best assets?

It is not happening. Whoever gets the 1st pick will draft. No need to conceive a potential trade.

I literally didn’t even say what would be in a hypothetical trade but ok. I know they won’t do it and they will likely be stuck in a continuous rebuild because of that but it’s more because of the optics of trading #1 than anything else. Obviously there’s a point where it’s smarter to accept a trade. But again I still don’t think they’d do it even if it was a crazy overpayment.

To move up from 5th to 1st overall?
I would trade the 5th overall plus our 2025 pick top 2 protected, plus Jordan Harris.
If it were for a player of Matthews/Hughes/Bedard calibre than obviously I would add more, but Macklin is more of Dahlin calibre from what the scouts say.
