Pretty sure even if Tavares waives there would need to be some major adds from TML side or heavy retention and picks or prospects!

For Knies + 2024 1st Calgary would probably consider it but that's a moot point since Tavares won't waive.

Then we'll resign Tavares for 1 year at 5 mil AAV and trade him back to Toronto at next year's deadline for their 2026 1st. We'll even retain 50% on Tavares if Toronto adds a 2nd. Toronto gets 2 playoff runs out of him for very little cap space.
