Detroit isn't the right team for Smith.

If anything they need to dump some cap to lock up Seider and Raymond long term.

yeah any other team is fine. it won't be a problem finding smith a spot for a 5th rounder.

If Pens retained some salary on Smith he should be easier to trade.

yeah no retention is necessary for the pens, I don't care having a better return but just get cap space

nahh you'll see. many teams will be interested to give up a 6th round pick and make it a 3rd or 2nd at the tdl
