We most certainly are not retaining 50%

Not sure we even trade Gibby for this without retention

Why do you think that we would trade our starting goaltender for a future third and an over-the-horizon second? Nobody has a gun to our heads. Never mind the fanciful 50% retention.

In general, teams won't trade you someone who's a roster player now for the possibility of having a roster player in 2028.

That's not even worth picking up the phone to listen to on Gibson. That offer doesn't even begin to pay for the retention.
