The writing is on the wall that Morgan may not be today, but if nothing else in another season or two, not a first liner or at least needs to play with a very good shut down dman. Leafs need to look ahead and prepare for that. McCabe is not a 2nd liner either, he's a solid #5.

We just witnessed how quickly a defenceman in his mid 30's can fall off a cliff with Brodie. The answer to most on here is to give Demello and Walker their biggest ever contracts. When they are going to be 30 and 31 respectively. No lessons are ever learned on this site.

Rielly will never get the respect he deserves due entirely because of the crest on his jersey. Leaf hate is ridiculous on this site.

Or A) realize Rielly gives up defensive position in effort to drive the zone and join the offense and needs a top 10 shut down defender to play with, or B) he simply is showing he's past his peak this season.

A certain amount of risk/reward has always been the case with Rielly, but the Leafs have done him no favors with defensive partners to limit the risk with Rielly and to let him flourish

So what you are saying is he needs an actual partner. Not Lybushkin, or Brodie, or (insert the long list of 3rd pair plugs he's been forced to play with his entire career). This just proves your negative bias. Somehow being forced to carry terrible partners makes him eh? Lybushkin must be hurting so much having to play with Rielly eh?

It proves that most people outside of the Leafs bias realize what he's good at and asking him to be the #1 defensive zone guy is not it, which means he's needs a legitimate 1st line defensive dman partner. No bias here, just realistic. He's very good, but not elite as some Leafs fans think he is.

I defend Jones, not his contract..there IS a difference. He's easily a 1st liner on most teams, mostly as a #2, including the Hawks and Leafs.

"you have lost" this is why you have so little 'likes' on here; you think everything is an argument, a competition and personal. rolling eyes

You just made your whole argument irrelevant. Jones isn't a good 2nd pair defenceman. Worst contract in the whole league.

    ...and here you go again.

Jones is a good #2 next to a #1; look at the Hawks defense with and without him during his injury...it's clear as day what he brings to the ice against the oppositions best players and on the toughest assignments. He would easily be the Leafs 2nd best defensive player on the team. Jones is #2 on the Hawks next to Vlasic who would also be the Leafs best defender who ranked top 3 in the entire NHL in the defensive zone as a rookie.

His contract and his abilities are mutually exclusive and can be objectively judged separately as I just said in my last comment.

You defend Jones and bash Rielly. You have lost. Rielly is better offensively and defensively. And has never had a proper partner. You are silly

You realize how foolish your response are to me? Nowhere did I bash Reilly; in fact I called him a "very good player" and questioned his partners. When I say, Jones would be the 2nd best defender on the Leafs who do you think I am suggesting is #1? Reilly. Dude, seriously cool your trolling...you've been on here all day non stop getting into arguments embellishing people's statements for an argument....it's either stop putting words in mine or other's mouths or work on your reading comprehension skills...choose one and maybe you'll have more productive interactions with people, get some 'likes', and not come off as such a miserable human

Rielly isn't a top pair defender who sucks defensively. Your words. Jones is a top pair defender.

As for being a miserable human being, you are on here constantly telling leaf fans all their players are bad. Always a great method to have good conversations.

You've literally been on here for 10 hours today....literally arguing with people for 10 hours....think really hard about that

No, I'm objective, and those weren't my words; I said "he may not be today", I didn't say he wasn't and also said his partners could be the problem. Your reading comprehension skill is worth the water in my toilet kid...and that's not a stretch
