Our issue was people being dumb. We are not bringing up Clifford

Jones is not starting

Liljigren was not our issue

Bert-Matthews-Domi is definitely staying together

Mcmann-Tavares-Marner or Nylander instead of McMann

The rest ehhhhhh idk

Jones is better than both Sammy and Woll right imo. That last game against Tampa was a joke, he wasn't at fault for those goals. Jones has proven in the past that he could go on a cup run.

Liljegren is too soft and weak to play against Boston. He gets crushed alongside the boards, at least Gio who is a passion merchant at this point in his career can bring experience and shot blocking to the team. Liljegren offers nothing.

Clifford is a guy who can match the physicality of Boston's bottom six better than Robertson, Gregor, and Holmberg can. If McMann was healthy he would obviously go in.

And I like JT better as a 3C, which means bumping Domi down to 2C. JT has to be given sheltered minutes, not a top six role. He was at his best this year on the 3rd line.

Keefe is definitely terrible. But putting Edmunson on the first pair and taking out Liljegren is ridiculous. Moving Domi to the 2C spot and JT to 3C is just dumb.

Edmundson is better than Lyubushkin. Rielly needs a bruiser and a veteran on his pair. Liljegren is not that and Brodie has been awful this year so Edmundson is there by process of elimination.

And JT doesn't have the speed to be a top six player. At least Domi is fast and can make a play. He's a more impactful player than JT at this point in their respective careers.

Jones cup run was like 8 years ago. Lily was probably the Leafs best d-man in game 1 and no Gio is not physically capable of taking on the load against Boston. With Clifford, at that point bring in Gregor because he plays a similar game but he can actually skate.

Edmunson and Lybushkin are both not great. They just hit people but get beat all the time.

Yea, they won't be back next year. They were band aid solutions. They can't move the puck, make a pass, skate back effectively. They're just not good defencemen. Washington dumped Edmundson and still made the playoffs.
RipNasty liked this.

Jones saved the Leafs season. He still is capable of providing better goaltending than what Sammy and Woll are giving right now.

Liljegren will get exposed as the series goes on and the intensity ramps up. Gio can play good if given 12-14 minutes. Last year he was exhausted. This might be his final year so he'll be extra motivated to put in a good performance every game.

And Gregor is a better option than Holmberg and Robertson but I just like the meanness and physicality that Clifford plays with. Ideally him and Reaves see the ice for 5 minutes and hit everything in sight. For this series the Leafs should roll with 3 lines and then revert back to rolling 4 lines when McMann is ready to play.

If the current line up loses in game 2 again, Keefe will make worst moves than these ones, like putting Marner with Matthews again and reuniting Rielly with Brodie. Sometimes you have to throw stuff at the wall and hope some of it works out. Because the current lines didn't provide anything last game.

Keefe is going to play Brodie way too much at some point. We know this. It's likely going to be a the expense of Liljegren which is a horrible mistake since he's the only defenceman capable of moving the puck up ice other than Rielly.

Gregor sucks, everyone should play over him. The whole "hit everyone in sight" is half the reason TO wasn't good last night. Too many of their players did that.

That's why that message should only be given to the 4th line. And only for 5-7 minutes. Leafs weren't good last night because of bad goaltending, mental errors, and lack of discipline. If they clean that up, and get some early saves, they'll be fine.

I'd hope that a playoff d man could play 12-14 minutes, be he isn't that and you want all your guys to be ready to potentially play 20 minutes. I'm definitely not saying play Gregor but I was saying him not Clifford because Gregor is a physical presence he had 150 hits this year. If Leafs play Clifford their destined to get swept

No, go out there and assert yourself but don't go beyond your game to do so. Going out of your way to hit guys only puts you out of position. If you have a chance to hit someone and it won't put you out of position then go and hit em but the extra nonsense needs to stop. Gregor is fast and has a decent shot but he always tries to hit people even when it's not there. And also shoots from everywhere. He has no hockey sense.
