    31 other teams accept your offer. Just one 1st would be enough for many teams.

    Terrible game by Georgiov. Colorado could be another team bidding against Toronto, New Jersey, etc., for Markstrom this summer.

    Marky for Georgiev + Ritchie + 2024 1st. Retention is negotiable.

    Calum Ritchie will be better than Mercer or Holtz. A big right shot center like him is exactly what the Flames need most.

    Calum Ritchie will be better than Mercer or Holtz. A big right shot center with a high hockey IQ and playmaking skills is Calgary's biggest need.

    Would COL be willing to give that up? Cuz they could probably use a good centre.

    (Also not arguing, just curious)

    Hard to say, they might especially if Calgary agrees to retain 50% which they might do to get Ritchie. If it was up to me I'd do it in a heartbeat.

    I suggested Ullmark with retention for Georgiev + Manson (as a cap dump) + Ritchie over at https://www.capfriendly.com/forums/thread/823499 and you said Avs decline. Here you are suggesting Markstrom gets back both Ritchie AND a 2024 1st possibly without retention. That seems like a pretty big gap. I'm interested in whether you think that:
    * I was incorrectly calculating the value for Manson as a cap dump (assuming Colorado is up against it due to Landy's return, I assumed that dumping the contract was a win for the Avs)
    * Markstrom is significantly better than Ullmark
    * Markstrom's extra year is worth a 1st rounder + more
    * Something else

    After that performance you may not even get a chiclet.

    Imagine scoring 6 goals on Helly and losing? 😬

    Actually the main reason I said that back then is I didn't think Colorado needed a goalie but after tonight's game maybe they do.

    - No I don't view Manson as a cap dump. He's 32 years old but still worth his contract which only has 2 years left at a reasonable AAV. He could be included to balance the cap but that doesn't make him a cap dump.
    - The numbers are close but Ullmark's numbers are certainly inflated at least a little due to being on such a good team.
    - The extra year is worth something too.

    Also I did say retention was negotiable and added to that in response to another comment. To make that a bit more clear if it was up to me I'd do Marky at 50% retained for Ritchie + 2024 1st. Not sure Murray Edwards would allow Conroy to do that though. Heck if it was up to me I'd do Marky for Ritchie straight up too.

    Just in case it wasn't clear, I didn't mean to sound like I was cornering you. I meant to try to understand someone else's outside perspective from my own. Thanks for your feedback!

    We'll have to agree to disagree on Manson. It doesn't need to be his contract that moves, but I think that they will need to move a valuable roster player that has term, because that is basically all they will have signed. I think they won't get much of anything back, but I don't think they'd need to attach picks to move it either. I see it as akin to the Bruins trading Hall for basically nothing last offseason, as opposed to a trade where picks need to be attached to move salary.

    No, they simply wouldn't.
