Giving him Maatta money seems reasonable.

The Pens have had great success by getting productions from guys who are paid at or less than their value. Dumoulin was great in the playoffs but when he was hurt the team didn't struggle. Next year Dumoulin, Maatta and Schultz will all be overpaid. Add Sheary to that list too. It will be hard for any of those players to justify their contract. Add to that the fact that they gave Pouliot and Archibald one way deals means someone's gotta go. They have too many wings and still need a 3rd line center. Things get further muddy when you consider that Aston-Reese and Sprong could be ready for a roster spot. Then a couple guys need to go. I would ship Sprong, Sheary and Schultz to Colorado for Duchesne. I think Dumoulin is worth about 3 million. THAT SAID...I've seen my favorite team in all 4 sports win 5 Championships in 27 seasons. It won't be the end of the world if they take a step back next year. It's not like we're talking about the Cleveland Browns.

NEVER TAKE IT FOR GRANTED.... I've been a Minnesota sports fan since birth (1988) and have yet to see one of our four major market sports teams win a championship. The twins won it in 1991 when I was three, but that doesn't count. Banking on the Wild to win a championship within the next 3-4 years.
