Sensing a variety of opinions in this comment section. FWIW, as an outside observer, I think it’s pretty fair — Marner, despite his flaws, is still really good, and for a in-division deal, a 2D, 3C, 4-6D, 25-32 (or thereabouts) first rounder and a 50-64 second isn’t a terrible price to pay. It’s also probably not a price the Habs are willing to pay.

I would say the deal has to lose both Savard and Reaves for any hope of going through. Habs need Savard as a mentor to our young RD and Leafs aren't gonna want to lose what little toughness they have
