convince marner to waive and do this

Created by: jimtreliving

Description
NSH seems like a likely destination for Marner and Saros makes sense to come the other way w/ Askarov in the pipeline

Not sure how you convince him to waive but this would be the move to make if he does... 4 centers who can defend at a high level along with keeping the top 6 potent offensively

*This is assuming that Keefe is replaced with a coach that can actually enforce a defensive system.

I'm thinking that DeMelo may sign for double that given his last three years being at a +10 and this year going for a whopping +46 with 31 pts. And Tanev will be a player that teams will want to add and pay for his last 3 years of hockey, So unless he takes a major hit on his salary to come play for his hometown team I wouldn't see those signings.

Personally I think upping the money on DeMelo would be the best bet. I think that if Marner moves his NMC, they'd try to go for a top 2 Dman and not a goalie since the UFA market will as a few of them go up and may not cost a 5M$ cap hit.

You forgot to convince Trotz to lose his mind. Marner does not play center, Marner does not play RD, Marner disappears in the playoffs.

At this point, i say deal (i think in a vacuum Marner value > saros) and Liljegren replaces fabbro since clearly Brunette just doesnt want to deal with fabbro. Retain 50% on Marner's final year and trade him to somewhere that is more likely to give us what we want.

I have no issue being part of a 3-team deal that gets us something we need but I'm not overly interested in facilitating that for Toronto without having our return lined up prior. I have seen one ACGM where the OP at least paid attention to that and worked out a 3-team that sent us that plug PLD. Not interested in PLD but the premise of that made sense for once, a (supposed) top 6 C instead of another winger of which we have many and many good options for next year(s) in the pipeline. I haven't argued the value for the swap, simply the fact that positionally it does not work as we'd be hoping Askarov slides in seamlessly after moving Saros without receiving anything of apparent need (ie: clear top 6 C, top 4/top pair RD). We would be better off running Saros/Askarov until at least next year's deadline for development purposes and attempting to add through trading other assets or adding UFA's & draft selections.

At this point, i just see saros and the team infront of him struggling defensively. Saros losing value and us losing the opportunity to reap any kind of real value from him.

Agreed on PLD. He is Ryan Johansen reincarnate.
