Best Case Scenario

Description
Oshie LTIRetires (it's possible with the time he missed and it seems like it's a real possibility after things said about Oshie in exit interviews).

Perfetti wants out of Winnipeg in this scenario or Winnipeg decides to move on from him prematurely. I don't think this is the smartest thing for the Jets to do, it would just be the best case scenario for the caps.

Duchene decides to take a couple years at a reasonable cap hit with the caps to get some job security and make himself whole from the buyout of Nashville.

Walker would be the perfect D partner for Sandin if he walks to UFA.

Any return any team is willing to give, or caps could attach as much as a third round pick for someone to take on Jensen. Has to be a team that finds value in him, not just a pure cap dump, for it to make sense for the receiving team.
    OTT
    1. Jensen, Nick
    Additional Details:
Traded to any team. Slightly overpaid, so caps may have to attach a late pick to him. It's possible a team will pay for him because they're desperate for RHD. Ottawa could be a fit, but could also see Toronto, Buffalo, Dallas, or Vancouver being fits based on what they decide to do this off-season (moving out money, moving on from certain players)
    2.
    WSH
    1. Perfetti, Cole [RFA Rights]
    Additional Details:
Perfetti had a tough end to the season and was pushed out of his second line role in Winnipeg after the Monahan and Toffoli additions. The only way Winnipeg moves him is if he asks to be traded, because I think the Jets would be foolish to let him go otherwise. Winnipeg needs to be receiving something good to move him, and I think the return proposed is at least worth considering.
    WPG
    1. Iorio, Vincent
    2. 2024 1st round pick (WSH)
    3. 2025 2nd round pick (COL)
    Additional Details:
Vincent Iorio was drafted in the second round in 2021. RHD who has played limited games in the NHL but has looked good in the AHL with the 2023 Calder Cup winning Bears and is going to be a crucial part of their lineup for the remainder of the playoffs assuming he's healthy after the hit he took in game 1.

Pick is 17th overall in this draft.

Value wise, I think that's a pretty good haul for Winnipeg for Perfetti, but I think the Jets would want a similar aged, similarly talented, already playing in the NHL player back for Perfetti.

I think you could almost cut the AAV on that Beck contract in half and he’d accept. Maybe give him 1.25M

Also I would imagine Philly would have re-signed Walker if the contract was that team friendly. I think the rumor was he wanted more term than they were comfortable with.

Big fan of the Perfetti & Duchene ideas

Beck shouldn't make more than $1million. He's good, but he played one season. I would really like Perfetti, but Iorio is a guy I would keep on the back end. We need to keep our young guys, and he's our best defensive prospect.

Nope. I'd rather the Jets just keep Perfetti over a lateral move.

21 points playing fourth line minutes is great. I think 1.75M would be fair for Beck. He's earned it with his play. I'm not convinced he can't be more than a fourth line guy, too. Three years at 1.75-2 is great to see what he is.

I'd honestly be willing to do 5x5 for Walker - he's exactly who they need right now, and if they structure the contract right, you can make the last year or two buyout friendly. And if you move out Iorio, Walker is a great replacement.

I hear you, just don't know what else the caps have that they're willing to give up that fits that. Iorio can play in the NHL right now - he looked solid in the limited minutes he played at the end of the season - but he's stuck behind Carlson, Jensen, TVR, and Bear on the depth chart. He's going to be a good middle pair defenseman, but he can already hold his own on the bottom pair. I think a full year in the NHL next season would be great for him, just don't think he's gonna get that in DC. If Winnipeg sees Iorio as a young right-now piece, maybe the trade works? But if the Jets want a forward, it's tough to find something that fits the bill you described from the caps.

Yeah, that's the key. If the Jets scouts like Iorio and think he's ready to play full time in the NHL or is very close to that, then I could see the deal working for sure as he does fill a positional need.
