I think it'll take a couple seasons before Utah can attract UFAs, the stink leftover from Arz still taints that team.

20 million in cap and a young nucleus probably speeds it up

Exactly. Since his deal, for every good game in the playoffs he had had, he's also had 2-3-4 bad ones.

That goal was a highlight reel no doubt. The problem is even superstars like McDavid only put up highlight reel goals like once every 5-7 games. That's an entire series! You have to find a way to be useful when you aren't making highlight reel plays. that is what Marner doesn't do, find a way to contribute when he isn't making these incredible plays. He has deserved every once of criticism he has gotten in these playoffs

Is this why in 2021 while he amassed 8 points including 5 goals in 7 games against the Habs Marner and Matthews just disappeared?

Do empty goals and run up the score points truly matter >?

Are points everything? We barely saw Marner one second in that series while Nylander was one of the few consistently noticeable Leafs in these 7 games.

I can't believe the crap coming out of your keyboard, are you Marner's dad? You worship him like he's a god

the fact that you think that Playoffs shouldn't be a tighter, less penalty filled game is the reason why this team hasn't won anything. The playoffs are the playoffs and they will always be like this. If he isn't able to step up and adapt he shouldn't be playing has far undersized and players like him in the past (Marty St. Louis) were able to set up. marner is a good reg season player but the NHL isn't just about the regular season. Both AM34 and willy have shown they can perform he is the only one that hasn't.

Check the Leaf with the most playoff points and come back.

Nylander is not perfect. No one's saying he is.

The argument here is that Marner has NEVER proven that he's worth anything over 9,5M and he's at almost 11M!!!!!!

Marner went out of his way to have a contract with an AAV as close to Matthews's as possible and then he did what exactly? The best version of Marner was that 18-19 one, and this was BEFORE his contract.

Even if the Leafs got 20% less than his actual value in a trade, they should still do it, the cap space and flexibility would still be worth it.

A stupid GM called Dubas created this culture, don't blame Marner.

Dubas (for all his flaws) didn't force Marner to play DOWN to his contract. That's entirely on Mitchell

Troll comment.

You can't be serious believing Nylander tries to win at all cost.

LOL

Did you even watch the playoffs last year? Nylander was far and away the best player on the Leafs last year.

Tell me right now, do you genuinely believe Marner has played well these playoffs? Do you genuinely believe he has played like the 11M player he is?

Can't question Matthews effort, he singlehandedly won the Leafs game 2. You can absolutely question Tavares but unlike Marner Tavares has negative trade value

It's funny seeing Leaf fans ignore the fact that there are 2 teams playing and the other coach is smarter and better, obviously the B's have a game plan to stop Marner, unlike Nylander who used to shut himself down.

B's locker room coach's success to win game board.

1. reduce Matthews high scoring chances.
2. do not take penalties.
3. double team Marner.
4. be physical.
5. get traffic and shots on net.

huh, notice no mention of Nylander's name, maybe that's why he gets points, as he is further down the "to do list".

Marner sits #1 in all-time playoff points on the Leafs.

He also has been a Top 10 point producers in the Nhl over past 5 years.
