Description
Would start by moving them in all reality. Gonna do an armchair GM of each team. I don't necessarily know lines/pairings, so please forgive me. Just trying to think logistically what each team could do.

I don't mind the Detroit trade (because it seems that trading Mrazek is inevitable, otherwise it'd cost a lot more). However, it only saves us $700k in cap space and we'll need another $800-900k to get us under $75M.

What if we expanded this a bit to include Nyquist & Fleury? Maybe we could agree to:

DET sends: Nyquist + Mrazek + 6th
CAR sends: Fleury + Ward + 2nd

I don't think Carolina will necessarily be looking for any wingers and won't have an interest in Nyquist, hence trading Nordstrom for a low pick and I'd think it'd be more likely they would try Gauthier or signing a 4th line guy than trading for an extra winger. Also, while Fleury may be expendable, he's a prospect I don't think will be moved quite yet for a return in a trade that's not 100% necessary. Mrazek like Ward would be put into a 1B goalie slot, so it's not really an improvement, He's just younger and taking a gamble on if he starts playing better in a new system.

I didn't even think about Detroit's cap situation, and in this trade, it wouldn't shock me if Carolina probably retains the max 50% (1.65M) for a total of saving 2.35M in cap space.

I think Detroit would make that trade then if you're retaining that much.
