I can't wait until Leafs fans are crushed by the lack of return for Marner. This is a guy you are all actively complaining about and essentially FORCING out of Toronto due to lack of performance. Why would teams want to pay for that?

As a related aside, remember how Ottawa fans were convinced Tarasenko would bring them a 1st round pick++ without retention? They retained half his contract and might get two third round picks (if Florida wins the Cup). That's because he held complete control over where he went. Now, Marner is a better player than Tarasenko, sure. But you're gonna need to come to terms with the fact that you aren't going to get a team's best prospect. It just. Ain't. Happening.

No matter how many times you guys are told that we're not trading 7 to ten seasons of Brandt Clarke for one season of Mitch Marner, especially since he's one of only three RDs on the roster for next season, you guys stubbornly persist as if you're impervious to input. It's like the people on the Titanic who were told repeatedly about icebergs but just kept blindly steaming ahead.
