I don't think the Flyers retain money on Ristolainen's contract if they are asked to take back Mikheyev and his 2 x $4.75m deal.

Risto has revamped his career under torts, he is not considered a cap dump anymore, personally id be shocked if Philly even considers this.

Flyers management loves Risto, so it'd have to be an overpayment like Walker. Flyers fans...we would shed Risto contract for the rebuild.

Ah fair enough I was hoping Foote/Gonchar could work their magic with Risto if he needed it seems Torts did that already. Also thought getting a Russian who is good at being a middle man for incoming Russians (Mikheyev was good in between Boudreau and Kuzmenko) would help when Michkov comes over. Klimovich is an good prospect who had a bad injury year that derailed was using him in lieu of 3rd/4th round pick to retain the 1.1m but seems all for naught.

Agree to disagree. Risto has been one of the most positively impactful Dmen on the team, and that's with great performances from Sanheim and York this year. Great breakdown here at the https://thehockeywriters.com/philadelphia-flyers-2023-24-player-grades-rasmus-ristolainen/Hockeywriters' site. Hope he comes back healthy from the off-season.

We do not have RD ready for NHL from whom Risto would be taking minutes. Makes sense to keep him as a decent partner to one of our young LDs.
