Initial Creation Date: May 10, 2024

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Stay the course.

Draft:
Cayden Lindstrom or Tij Iginla

Trade:
Cody glass, low risk. What is a 3rd will do in this rebuilding phase? Harris, too many D, could be sacrificed.

Sign Monahan on a shorter contract, even a bit more if needed to bridge the gap until this year prospect is ready. Monahan will also be there if Dach can keep healthy and will help him on his line.

Left Defense
Its looking good, no problem there. Even if they move Hutson the AHL, no problem there.

Right Defense
Mailloux and Reinbacher will graduate eventually, possibly in 2024-2025, but it doesn’t hurt to play in the AHL. Move Arber to the right to be the sheriff and pair him with Hutson. Once Matherson is moved or goes to UFA, move him back to the left.

Center:
Looking good, if they need to replace one, Glass and Monahan will be there
Wings: If they have too many injuries, use the AHL players to fill from the bottom.

Goalie:
Unless they have injuries, Montembeault 50 - Primeau 32. Time to test them both for what they could be. If one of them can’t, give more games to the other one. Test Dobes if they have injuries.

Anderson. Gallagher and Dvorak: Unless someone needs them, we are stuck with them, they can fill a jersey for the time being.

Scratches: Kovacevic is better on our lineup than getting a draft pick for him, Pezzetta is the same. Armia is not ideal to be scratched, but injuries will occur during the season, so he won’t stay there. Unless someone wants him, sure send the offers.

1 more year of rebuilding, after you will have a more mature group to push for a playoff spot. Patience is needed 1 more year for a greater future, no shortcut. After that year, yeah go for it.
In 2025, Armia/Dvorak will be off the book. Gallagher and Anderson will be at 2 years left, so it will be easier to buyout or trade. No one want them right now without us adding something (minus possibly Armia)

Armia was much better last year than:

Glass
Anderson
Dvorak
Gallagher

He was the team's best penalty killer by far and was scoring at a pace worthy of his contract the last 41 games.

He played well last year, but I would play him in between. AHL when everyone is healthy and up when he is needed. He will be there long term, for the moment playing as much as possible in every scenario is better than playing 4th line or scratch

100 agree, but long term when the team will compete, he is most likely wont be there or will be on a lower line. Anderson/Dvorak and Gallagher wont either, but maybe (long shot) they can have a better year to be able to send them anywhere else via trade. Armia wont stay long on the bench either as some others player will be bench at one point or another. At the end of 2025, he wont probably be re-sign. Armia has been hot and cold through the years, unlikely it will change long term

Why even bother with Glass? Play Armia all year and if he continues on his pace from the past 41 games, either re-sign him or trade him at the TDL.

Both deal expired after the next season. Instead of getting a Colin white of this world (0 goal 0 assist and -3 in 17 games), we might be surprise by one of them and we might re-sign one of them or two for the followings years. A 3rd round for glass would not be overly expensive. Yep a risk, but not a high risk either.
