Sure they do, they get a guy not even close to as good as marner for the most valuable thing the leafs got for marner

Leafs will not get anywhere close to the value he deserves. 1 year rental, being able to waive any trade, big cap hit that doesn't fit easily with teams that would be interested in him. TOR should just keep him

the leafs will 100% get positive value for Marner if they move him, at worst they have to take back a 1 year cap dump like Ryan Johansen, or a guy who makes maybe a million and a half bucks more than he's worth but is still a good player.

we're talking about different things. I'm not saying he will be a dump, I'm saying he will not get close to the value he deserves due to this being pretty much the worst possible time/situation to try to trade him
