Flames say no, Backlund is essential to the Flames, 4th in Selke voting last year, developed in the system which sets the example for guys like Bennett that the team will stick with the young guys. Davidson doesn't help our situation at all, just creates a log jam of D, Shaw would be nice, I wouldn't pay that much for him though.

Calgary needs Backlund and has no space available for Davidson. Shaw since Montreal's acquisition is now overpaid much like Brouwer. If Calgary were to move Backlund and I highly doubt they would they would require a top 6 forward to play the right wing on Monahan and Gaudreaus line. I don't think Montreal has what Calgary is looking for.

As a flames fan, my guess you would need to be throwing in 1st rounders plus Drouin to get Backland out of this team, Byron was a flame and the Habs claimed him on waivers, the "fast little bugger" doesn't play a tre/Burke game so he adds no value to this team.
