Been advocating Polak and Vanek for weeks. Add signing of Butcher and the team looks formidable.

Why? Polak is a bad, no good, terrible, very ungood defense man. And he is just coming off of a horrific leg injury at age 31. Did I mention he is bad?

Got to be better than Rozsival. I think veteran d-man in 5-6th slot would help with Forsling, Rutta etc. It looks like they may be thinking Franson. Buffalo guys hate Franson as well.

Yes on Polak, if he's recovered and can go. Leafs used him as a #4, he'd be a good #5. Prefer Polak over Franson. Not sure on Vanek, the rap on him is he's lazy but he has put up decent numbers last couple of years.
