Yes, we could keep him and most people in montreal will agree with keeping him, but montreal are in a rebuild and if they have the option to sell on a player with an all time high value they should seriously consider doing so.

Sure, but ask for appropriate value from a team who wants him, don't just assume you can get whatever you want from whatever team you want something from

Relax, it's a hockey discussion, no need to get heated

I don't need to be heated to say I don't give a **** about the Devils, swearing doesn't mean I'm mad

I added a lot of value on top of Matheson and i literally said in the trade that Minnesota will probably not trade him, you're the one who decides to discredit Matheson has a player with ridiculous statistics to disregard his accomplishments last season

Yeah because I applied context, which you don't seem to be willing to do.

Let's go back to this question then since you want to double down on how your package is somehow reasonable:

Ask yourself if you’d rather have 5th overall or the package you offered above.

Yurov looks very very promising as a prospect but i don't think he goes top 5 on a re-draft, definitely to 10. (Could also be top 5 , not sure until he plays in the NHL)

Matheson was one of the best defenseman in the league last season and has 2 more years on his contract, he's a 8.5M to 9.5M defenseman making half that.

On top of him i added two prospect who each still hold value as a late 1st and i actually added another 1st round pick

Answer the question. Would you sacrifice the 5th overall or even Reinbacher for that package?

There are three players in this draft that I would consider better prospects than Yurov (Celebrini, Demidov, Levshunov). I wouldn't trade Yurov for the 5th overall pick. Again, this is the guy that Wild fans expect to play 1C in like 1-2 years.

I'm just encouraging you to look at this from the other perspective. Collectively, your package might have more value than the 5th overall pick. But it doesn't make sense to choose the package over the 5th overall pick.

I said something similar in the posted trade. I fully understand that part

I mean, I'd trade our 1st if it was someone 27 or younger.

23 or younger maybe. They need to be able to add ELC contributors to the roster down the line to keep their window open. Seth Jarvis is a great example of what that looks like right now for Carolina.

As long as they are 27 or under they would fit perfectly. We have plenty of ELC contributors coming and could afford to offer a 1st for a top 6 or top 4 player.

Not really. We have a lot of bottom pair defensemen and bottom six forwards on ELC's. Not much in the way of top of the lineup guys.
