Description

Clearly the goal is to move Krug/Faulk/Hayes but may be tough to do this year. Sign Duchene as 2C for 3 years until Dvorsky is ready to be a top 6 C. Could slide to wing if Dvorsky is ready earlier. Skjei is just the only LHD UFA that could /should play with Parayko. Next offseason is the time to move Krug/Faulk/Hayes with the M-NTCs and only 1 or 2 years left to retain on.

Yeah they have no business whatsoever committing more long term money to veteran defensemen, even nominally good ones, especially with where this team is in the competitive cycle

Committing 16.5m to the LHD position with term while still not having a #1 Defenseman would be pretty comical.

That would be a locked in commitment of 30 million AAV for a defense group that lacks a #1 defenseman.

I think that Duchene would be a very good addition for sure. But I fear he wont take a short term deal to the tune the Blues would like. I'd be really interested to see him paired with Kyrou.

Agreed - probably didn't need to sign Skjei but hard to just let the defense be for another year with no changes. Not to mention, I totally forgot Scotty P. Oh well. Duchene is above average at the dot and his speed with Kyrou would be fun to watch. Definitely down for him on a 2-3 year deal, but I bet he pushes for 4-5 years to get that final contract.
