First of these Van dumping Mikheyev to SJ rosters I have seen that that might have a sweetener worth the Sharks trouble. But seriously, his buyout isn't that expensive and with the cap increases coming I don't see why that isn't a suitable option for Van.

canucks already have OEL buyout looming. they would end up with over 6 million in dead cap in 2025

I think Hronek has significantly more value than Ehlers. Hronek is younger, plays the most premium position in hockey and under team control for longer. The difference is probably a 1st. Or something around that type of value.

One plays the most difficult position to attain top talent in and the other plays the easiest. And Hronek is younger. And he is restricted. It'd be a disaster of a trade. Not to mention the reasons to trade Hronek which are his potential cap hit and poor play in the playoffs are the same for Ehlers.
