Penguins decline. Do not need a $10M+ third line center.

I think this is a better deal for Tampa then Toronto. That team with Marner would be insane. They can afford losing Serg but fair enough keep it the same and keep losing in the first round so you can live the life of a leafs fan.

Ya I don't see it like that. Karlson didn't pan out and they missed the playoffs. JT can play the wing and gives this old team a proven forward that can help this season. If it doesnt work out at least its an expiring contract instead of 10mm for 2 more seasons. Also the penguins would basically get him for free as the bonus would be paid prior to the trade.

so to fix Tampas already bad defensive issues they trade away one of their best and long term signed d men for someone who is a ghost in the playoffs, makes a ton of sense all while adding a second rounder

Karlsson will be fine. Just have to find him the right partner, I rather allocate available cap space to that. I'll still pass with Tavares on the wing, the top-six should be set with O'Connor, Rust, Bunting and Rakell.

Stop trying to trade Marner, he has a NMC & he’s treated like “God” in Toronto. He isn’t going anywhere.

TB is trading Sergachev, to anyone.

Mitchell Marner has 4 goals, 15 assists and a plus-minus of +12 in 13 games. Doesn't sound like a ghost to me? For reference Stamkos 4 goals, 4 assists and a plus-minus of -4 in 13 games Vs Toronto.

This is overblown by media and fans, the actual hockey people know what Mitch Marner is. Quote from Lightning head coach Jon Cooper praises Mitch Marner's ability to play both sides of the puck and says he's one of the smartest players the league has ever seen.

I don't think you really have a say in the deal. What do you think your Captain would say if they brought in a JT to play his wing instead of one of those plugs. Bunting?? Really you think hes a top 6 player. Your delusional. This trade although far fetched because I doubt JT would accept a trade would be an absolute steal for the penguins to open up space next year if they miss the playoffs again. They liekly wouldn't however because any team with Malkin, Crosby and JT in the top 6 has a chance.

I honestly would like them to find a way to keep him. I think his "bad play" is over stated. I would chalk up the last 4 seasons poor performance in the playoffs to coaching, a terrible GM who put too much cash into the "skill" players. I honestly think if they run back the exactly same lineup with a different goalie and coach and play Boston they prob win easily. Now the emotion of losing is over its fun to tinker with different scenarios. It's almost impossible to win a Marner deal he's too good. Defense, Offense. Yes he could be better in the playoffs but its a team game and coaching is a big part of winning in the playoffs which is why certain coaches have done it the majority of the time.

Those are his playoff stats vs Tampa. 17 points in 13 games vs Stamkos 8 points in the same games. Hes not invisible at all.

Anderson at 3m is a decent contract
Montreal has 20m in cap space
Montreal has one retention spot left with important assets to trade
Robertson is bad

No of course not, but Boston and Tampa are the teams he has the most games against. You say hes worth a bag of pucks so Im just debating your logic here. It's hard to score in the playoffs especially coming out of the Atlantic. Those are tight hard fought series. All of them could have broke the other way and people would be talking **** about how could you trade Marner for nothing. Teams evaluate outside of the media noise. I would be surprised if this is all they got if he agreed to a trade.

Yeah zero chance TB pays Mitchell "show me the money" Mariner 2-3 million more than Kucherov and Point while simultaneously destroying its Blueline . Utterly moronic cap management.

Bunting fit in well with Malkin after the trade and brought in a much-needed element. Penguins are getting younger going forward, send Tavares to Utah. Later.

He's being paid 5.5 m and Mtl has like 9mm and your team is full of 18 year olds. Robertson would fit in good on the team, prob score 20 plus goals and if he doesn't he's cheap and you got out of a terrible contract with a player that is a passenger right now and doesn't really make sense.

That's only for 1 year, and they are also actually paying him 750 k. That should be factored in, teams like to make money. Plus Stamkos came off the books so you can still sign someone to play D with the difference in Stamkos and Serg cap hits. You obviously cant do math.

TB doesn't give a rats @$$ about the actual salary they're very worried about the cap hit. Yeah you think he takes a pay cut to stay Bhahahahahahaha Bhahahahahahaha Bhahahahahahaha that's completely delusional. And it still utterly destroys their back end it's criminally moronic

Yeah, I don't see it like that either. Karlsson was thrown into a new system and couldn't entirely disregard defense like he could in SJS. The Pens missing the playoffs has a lot more to do with the Pens lacking depth and being frequently outcoached than it has to do with EK not putting up 100 points again.
I don't care about the term or signing bonus. The Pens have nonexistent RHD depth, we'd have to replace EK in free agency. Timmins isn't going to cut it. The trade also adds $4.1M to the Penguins' cap hit and puts a hole in our defense that can't be filled without an expensive trade or a boatload of money chucked Brandon Montour's way. Which means no room to make the depth any better. This trade actively causes the Pens more harm than good.

Seriously do a TB ACGM look at their blueline with that trade and honestly say you think it makes them better. You can't be honest and do that. TB was 5th in GF 23rd in GA Trading Sergachev for a winger making 2.4 million more is DUMBER THAN DIRT

you have no argument though, Marner is not the player tampa would ever want and his value isnt close to sergachevs
