How Much For Necas

Created by: Lime
Team: 2024-25 San Jose Sharks
Initial Creation Date: May 20, 2024
Published: May 20, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Would Ferraro be a valid piece? Seems like he'd be a decent replacement for skjei at half the price.
The Vegas pick seems pretty expendable in my opinion, but what else would need to be added? Or what's an offer that Carolina fans would be happy with?
Sharks also have a ton of cap space if a cap dump is necessary

Necas should get around what Fiala got. So this is arguably an overpay

I like how the Sharks sign Skjei away from the Canes then trade Ferraro to them to replace Skjei.

I think this offer is fair.

Skjei might be overpaid.

I think it's a mistake to move Ferraro from a moral perspective and I think that Vegas pick should not be seen as expendable whatsoever.

this is a team that's losing a ton of players in the offseason and their top 6 are habitually injured. I wouldn't be surprised to see that pick in the top 10 (also wouldn't be surprised to see it at 32)

Fully agree with this, I have no idea what the Vegas pick is gonna be. I don't know about Ferraro, I really liked him at first but it feels like ever since Burns left he just hasn't found a partner here and he gets violently overplayed with top pairing minutes. I just don't think we have anything else that Carolina would be interested in.

Yea I don't think Skjei resigns, I just don't know if they have the money. I think he's worth more around 6.5-7 but we'd have to overpay to get him in San Jose, but a decent top pairing guy will go a long way with developing younger D guys

Ultimately, any interest in Ferraro will be determined when the Canes have a more clear answer to when Nikishin will be coming over. If it is this season that he comes over, Ferraro doesn’t hold any value to the Canes at that point, with Slavin, Orlov, and Nikishin ahead on the depth charts. If Nikishin comes over after another year, like is anticipated, there would be some interest in Ferraro, but I doubt enough to pull the trigger on something like this. It’s sounding like the Canes are wanting either a RH 2C or an upgrade on Necas if they move Necas. I don’t think the Sharks are good trade partners for Necas simply because the Sharks don’t have the pieces the Canes would be looking for. In the off chance the Canes will listen to futures packages, the Sharks have some quality pieces they could move.

You think maybe a second + fourth/fifth + Ferraro would get it done? Or is that still too much?

It's hard to put it on him. You look FrozenPool and see his linemate share % and he is literally with a new d-partner every other game for the past 2 years. it's going to be hard to find consistency like that, and the quality of those d-partners are bottom pairing guys in most competitive teams.

Certainly not being set up for success but he had some really fantastic stretches this season, and he's a leader in that room. With Hertl gone I just feel they've lost too many guys that keep that culture alive in that room

Yea I just saw an article where a scout said the sharks could be interested and decided to run with it, but I don't know what we could realistically give up for a compete now package lmao

Yea he's definitely a heartbeat for the team, the only person who I liked him with in the past couple years was Emberson, but he just couldn't get healthy. It's tough cuz other than maybe Muk I just don't know how many genuine top 4 guys we have in our prospect pool

What about Bordeleau + SJ 2nd (upgrades to the Vegas 1st if Vegas makes playoffs)

- So that pick is pretty much guaranteed in the 17-36 range, barring Vegas missing playoffs AND SJ having a surprisingly good year.
- Bords is a young forward with decent potential and NHL ready. Likely sign in the 1-2.5 mil range as an RFA and would slot well on a 3rd line scoring role

I think they would want a first. Vgk pick and Ferraro for Necas and a second seems fair
