Im not sure the jackets are going to be able to trade Elvis without taking a goalie back, which is what would have to happen to make this trade.

Enh; this would also work with a "buyout Elvis" plan since it's only for a year.

Yeah i just seriously doubt that we would consider the buyout option. I expect he will either be traded or be back next season. I hope he is traded, but would be fine with a buyout. I just dont want him on the team next year, but i dont have alot of confidence in our ability to trade him.

From Mid-January: "Merzlikins told the media on Friday he was not happy being the third goalie and that he, his agent and the Blue Jackets organization had agreed that a "new scenario" was needed."

I just don't think keeping him around is even an option. The organization clearly thinks he's the 3rd goalie, we're not moving Tarasov or Greaves...what else are we supposed to do? Keeping him if that's how both he and the organization feel isn't good for the player or organization, and I doubt his feelings have changed.

IMO, the options are: A) buy him out, or B) trade him in a bad-contract goalie-swap to someone willing to make him their starter (i.e. Detroit, Washington). This Freddy trade is a good option if the organization selects option A).

Yeah i guess id be surprised if the ownership was on board with a buyout. I want to see him gone, but i could also see a new GM and coach coming in and deciding to keep him thinking they can change his mind or something. I mean a new gm and coach is a "new scenario". Ideally we just find some trade that works and move on, but this team always has me worried.
