A fringe NHLer and and 50is pick doesn't get you a starting NHL Dman. Even with Tavares do you really think at forward group in good enough?

I don't think you offered enough in your trades. Specially for Tavares. Vegas made dumb trades, but to acquire these two players, I think you'd to give a bit more.

it's ok but i would genuisly add Geno Malkin against Daniel Carr and a 4th round pick . I would even be ready to drop a meh prospect or a clause for pictures with Rejean Houle .

Hmesky is a wash. Alnzer is good defensively but can't move the puck out of the zone.

You should understand what RFA entitles his current team entails. Nothing Montreal has I don't think would interest Vegas, as I suspect that want to sign Schmidt long term.

Just a thought. Imagine if one of the Canadians recent draft picks...Fucale had been successful and shown he ready to be a good NHL starter. Canadians could have signed him for 4m long term.
Price gets traded this summer for a good return.
Sure Montreal isn't a good in goal without Price but to have 4.5m more in cap space buys another good player, plus the assets that were gained in the trade.
I know Montreal fans are elated to how Price return for another 8 years. And they should be. But the fact is he the same player, now maybe more money, so it really doesn't improve the Habs from their current state, which I think is "middling" at best.

Lindgren , McNiven show promise but let's face it , without carey , mtl would be the new edm ... Star player always overvalue there contract . take any 6m player compare him to 2 3m guy and most of the time you keep the best player . Price is one of the best , unless u trade him to a better one (McD,87) you pretty much loose the trade . Mtl fan base wouldnt accept to finish last but gladly accept mediocrity . A trade is not out of the option eventually but really at this point its in the hand of carey himself , if thing goes bad im sure he wouldnt mind and be relief and the return would still be astronomous . We got carey , we keep him , Fucale would last 2 practices before doing the walrus .
