Description

They said Landy won't be ready to go for the start of the season and will use LTIR to resign guys like Trenin and Drouin. My best guess is they try to pull a Mark Stone but who knows.

As for Val it seems like they're tied to him at least for the near term. I think there is a chance they try to dump his cap at the midseason as part of a package to get some depth players and so they can bring back Landy whenever he's healthy.

To do all this they will need to fill in the bottom 6 with some guys who are waivers eleigible. I don't think we will see a lot of big moves during the offseason unless someone is willing to take a big risk on Val.

Colton played wing for a while so I think it makes sense to bump him up to the 2LW with Mitts and Rants. That wing would be a scoring threat. 3L would be less of a scoring threat but the hope is landy or val come back and can eventually play 2LW and bump colton back down to 3C and trenin back down to 4C

Also I think they give drouin term to keep AAV down

i guess to clarify - Landeskog did not say he will not be ready to start the season. Landy himself said he intends to come back sometime between the preseason and april - I know this doesn't help THAT much at the free agency start but I think it's safe to assume he'll either come back earlier in the season (before the new year) or not at all.

I seriously, seriously doubt Nichushkin will just be scratched and not play if his cap is counting for the Avs. They're either going to give it a try or trade him if he were to be reinstated.

agreed, that last pairing does not look good. I'd think we wouldn't need 3 scratches, so when nichuskin comes back hopefully we can get a retained 3rd pairing guy around deadline for 1 mil

I agree. I think he will play when he is back, the problem is who knows when that will be. He is eligible for reinstatement in November but that doesn't mean he will actually play. Had to include him as a scratch just cause of uncertainty. Who knows...

Same, I think gustaffson on the rangers might be a good pairing but there is so much uncertainty they may just go with what is cheap and try to make an add at the TDL. I hope Bherens can develop and get some games in toward the end of the season.
