For such a fee, you will not get Granlund. Mark Staal is a ballast. Even if you keep two million for it, you need to pay extra.
My suggestion: Mika Zibanejad + Anthony Deangelo + Pavel Buchnevich for the rights to the Mikael Grandlund +3 round of 2018+5 round 2018 from Washington

I agree that OP's suggestion was terrible but yours' is equally bad for the Rangers. Buchnevich and DeAngelo are both high-level prospects and Granlund isn't worth all that much more than Zibanejad.

Iranian Mika is a 50-point forward, and Granlund will score 70-80 points. The difference of 20-30 points is very huge. Hence the addition of two prospectuses.

You're a funny guy.. granlund has had one good season, don't expect to get for him more than the rangers got for Stepan. Calling a first round pick, a prospect, and a depth player for the rights to granlund.

With staal included it'd probably look like:
Staal (2 retained), ryan graves, boo, and a 2019 first and 2018 second round pick

Zibanejad is a year younger than Granlund and has been more productive at center for years. Granlund has had one great season on the wing, but that does not in any way mean he's a 70-80 point player. Also, what difference does it make that Mika is Iranian?
