I saw the last post and my big problem is the acquisition of Schmidt. He's going to hold back players like Dermott, Rosen, Borgman and Neilsen from cracking the lineup and he won't cost us Bozak AND Carrick. I think we'd be smarter to just keep Bozak and Carrick to even out the handedness of the D pairings and give us solid center depth next year. Also, I do like the idea of Myers, but he won't cost us JVR. There's a lot of doubt whether he's worth the 5.5 he's getting, and he is quite injury prone, considering he only played around 10 games last year. It would have to be a larger package deal to even out the value if you were sending JVR

    After some more thought ...

I like the acquisition of Schmidt because he fills the top 4 LHD gap between when that batch of kids is ready for top 4 minutes and when Gardiner moves on after his current contract.

Worth the risk on Myers ... JVR could walk for nothing at the end of the year and we have better depth on the wings than RHD. Average over his career is 55 GP/season, excluding the lockout shortened season, but I'd take a chance on that 55 GP because we'd still have Rielly, Gardiner, Zaitsev, Schmidt even if/when he is out of action. Keep in mind, that JVR straight up for Hamonic was rejected and the Hall/Larsson deal last year so we can't overvalue JVR.
