Only blow it up if
Valid points on the NSH deal, not debating it.
An AAV of $4.5 would make Samsonov the 19th highest paid G next season, as it stands now, which is not crazy. I would not be opposed to moving Samsonov's rights, and running Woll/Murray. Actually would prefer that then paying picks for someone to take Murray, but can't trust his health. Graves may get slightly less but it'll be in that $5ish ballpark.
My take is, I'd rather keep them as my own rentals then give them away in a losing trade. You still have a good chance to win next year - if the team was just ok that's another story.

Pulock either by trade or offer sheet
Well good luck signing Barzal and Pulock with only $8m in cap space. Looks like an offer sheet is coming.
MTL trade is for picks so team doesn't matter.

Edmonton also thought they needed D (Larsson) rather than another skilled fwd (Hall) - it didn't solve their problems either. I think the Leafs are still a few seasons away from a solid run and this isn't enough to win now and Ellis is already creeping 30.

If they want to trade Ekblad every other team in the league beats that trade by a mile.</div></div>
Signing bonuses are paid July 1 of each year.

As a leafs fan, I like Ellis today but when he's 35+ with a cap hit of $6m I'm going to hate it. So I would decline.

Reilly, $10m yes. Ekblad is owed $15m over the next two years plus another $20m in the subsequent three years between signing bonuses and base.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tkecanuck341</b></div><div>I can't see LA trading Carter with retention. They don't need cap relief and he's valuable to the Kings for the same reason that you want him, experience. By the time the Kings need the space, his contract will be off the books. If a team wants to take on his full contract, they could have him for very little in return. If they have to retain half his salary, they'll just keep him.
I'm sure Johnsson could be a top-six guy somewhere, just not in LA. He's not going to unseat Iafallo or Kempe, so at best he's a 3LW for them.</div></div>
Fair, thanks for the dialogue.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tkecanuck341</b></div><div>Carter is a veteran presence to mentor the kids. I agree he's on the trade block, but not if they have to retain 50% of his salary. Rebuilding teams look to acquire more draft picks, not send them away.
Johnsson isn't better than Iafallo or Kempe, so at best he's a 3LW on the Kings. They already have a logjam at bottom six forward, so they're not going to give up a draft pick to acquire a more expensive bottom six forward. If the Leafs are going to pass on re-signing Clifford, then the Kings can re-sign him themselves and now they have another bottom six LW that they didn't have to give up a pick for.
The Kings won't know that Toronto doesn't intend to re-sign Clifford when they make this trade, so they're not going to trade that pick.</div></div>
Fair point on the status of the Clifford pick , revised the deal. I disagree on Johnsson being classified as a bottom 6 fwd, he could slot in on a second line. Would keep him based on age over Carter, but looking for a veteran presence that has won the cup.

Rielly Trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tkecanuck341</b></div><div>Kings decline. They don't get any cap relief for Carter in this trade and they don't get any picks. Toronto isn't going to qualify Rodrigues, so they could just sign him as a UFA if they wanted him (they don't). So really, they're retaining half of Carter's contract and giving up a 3rd (2nd if Clifford re-signs) and not getting anything useful in return.
No thanks.</div></div>
Carter isn't part of the Kings retool, Johnsson is a young skilled winger not quite as good as Kapanen but close, and is the key piece going back to LA. Could lower the 3rd. As you can see, Clifford was not resigned, so no upgrade to a 2nd.

Walker is probably getting $2m per which doesn't work with the Leafs cap.

JP for JB was a fresh start move for two prospects that are more than likely busts but since you called out Callahan being done I had to delete that deal and rework the bottom six.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>newballcoach</b></div><div>I'm not sure about this either. I have no idea where the fascination with Josh Anderson comes from, he is nothing special.
If you're looking to get an RHD out of LA, I'd be thinking about looking at Sean Walker. He's older then most of their guys from playing in the NCAA and fits into the Leafs window more then the Kings window. LA might even be adding Drysdale so they will be okay with moving somebody at RHD. I think they like Roy more and obviously Doughty is their #1 guy. They also have Durzi so I think Walker is the odd man out.
Bigger Q is what do they want. This isn't it. I would assume picks. Maybe a prospect, not sure what we have that might interest them.</div></div>
Anderson can score but also play a game with some bite which is what the Leafs need.
Walker is gonna cost somewhere in the $2m range which doesn't work since Holl has a NTC and that's where Walker would slot in, whereas Durzi is going into the system. Since someone else commented that Callahan is done I had to rework the bottom six so changed the LA deal.

Everyone trying to trade Ekblad so
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TCMonkey</b></div><div>I know Anderson had season ending shoulder surgery but should be more than fully recovered by the time next season starts. He's also a guy who scored 27 goals in 18-19, while leading his team in hits. He's absolutely the player Toronto needs, but that offer won't do it. And let's be honest, no GM sees Bracco as a potential player. He's an undersized prospect coming off his worst AHL season, who even in his best season was never given an NHL game by Toronto. IF (and that's a big IF) Columbus were to shop Anderson there'd be much better offers from teams like OTT, NJD, MTL, LAK...</div></div>
If Toronto went the offer sheet route for Anderson, CBJ has just over $5m in cap space next year and Dubois is gonna get paid that plus some so they won't be able to match and take a 2nd.
