Why does everyone hate Plecky so much, he is so underrated.

you can like pLek no prob , but to say he is underrated i guess u mean like with angry fan like me ! the guy make 6m a year , at two third of Crosby money u would expect some production . The problem whit him is that he always poke-check the puck instead of trying to secure the puck . Gallagher is the perfect teammates for him as he is ready to endure punishman for puck possession . Plekanec unwillingness to engage on the physical level is well documented . De la Rose , Danault or really anyone will replace him next years .

But that's the point, he's going to be replaced next year. So why are you even mad about his cap hit? You're not even doing anything productive with it! Look at that, you now have 14m to spare and nothing to show for it. You just lost your best defensive 3C who can take faceoffs and kill off penalties like a beast. No, he won't be the one to take the body, but it's not like you replaced his roster spot with someone who will (Peter Holland)...

On top of that, the worst part of this trade is your reasoning for why VGK would do this. You say they want to tank (and build through the draft, obviously), then you make them give up a 2nd round pick for someone on his last year of contract... This makes no sense at all. The only teams willing to give a 2nd round pick are teams who REALLY need a 3C of Plekanec's caliber (ex: Penguins), but obviously we'd need to retain 3M, which is no problem.

i get that and your right . BUT wouldn't be nice to told him we are tired of paying big prize to see a guy who refuse to compete .obviously against clarkson and a 2nd its a joke but it make MY point that we have surely at least try to get rid of him at various time in his career . we are gonna keep him .. to the expense of the 2 guys right next to him . It was more of a appreciation thread . Many trade didnt occur because of cap hit problem , like him , Parenteau , Briere etc ... The guy is absent of all playoff , back then it was because of sur-utilisation now because he is an elderly . After he sign his last contract the nightmare have start , only bargainbin didnt see it come .

yes he is over paid but its not like he is causing us to lose players, he's a great 3rd line C in the league IMO. I really hope they resign him, he's great defensively and that is our style whether we like it or not. To pay him 3 million dollars (or any in fact) to play against us would be a horrible decision.

ATM ok because we have the cap hit , but if radulov would have sign with us , it would have been complex to enter everyone , it's probably why they cut tie with Markov . Im sure some talk when on with vegas to take Pleky for a 2nd maybe ? Or some trade talk minimally .He can be a nice trade bait at the end of season if thing go wrong so yeah of course we need to wait for the good pitch but the turtle neck cant stick around with DLR , Danault and Poehling , McCaron all have 3rd line center written over them atm ..i would go that route .

DLR will be a few more years in the making, Poehling will be 3-4+ years away from a full time NHL job (if he makes it), Danault is currently our 2nd or even 1st one center unfortunately and McCaron has a lot to learn until he will become a full time NHL center, IMO another year or 2. Plecky does a great job and is the most underrated player on the team, we already don't have good center depth and getting rid of plec wouldn't help one bit.

The problem is not having Plek as third line center , the problem is that is winger are drag down by him . I agree we do need a number 1 center , but Plek is a defensive and checking center at this point . This have been proof now by mathematic . Look at his stat since the singing of his last contract ... The problem is 2 winger (lekho ) are drag down and are force to receive a maximum of dangerous hit retrieving puck that plekanec poked away with his stick at the extention of his scared constitution .

De la Rose is Plek at this point . The base salary is 1 M not 6 . i understand we have cap space but you also have to understand that complex financial situation always occur (Sedin could be move but the salary number makes it complex, and ultimally its there decision ). Many Canadian can play center (Shaw , Byron , Galchenyuk , Drouin , Mitchell ,Martinsen , McCarron , Danault, Lekhonen ) .

Of course i can admit having made the thread in total joke mood and wasn't acknoledging of Plek value more of a little insult :P . Plekanec was traded to St-louis couple year ago the trade was reject because a player (Backes) refuse it , and if you are not a papou from new guinea you know that Plekanec will probably be ship at the TD with some retention because why would u keep a little girl while playoffs is coming ?

I want Marchessault ! Let's see what team drown in december and try to extract from them on a big salary not performing to his ceiling .(Tavares, Ekman-Larsson, Sedins,Henrique etc) Marc is on the phone, some centerman is coming ... i know it because i try to call him and its always occupy .
