Chiarelli would be fired for giving that kind of freebie to the Bruins. Spoons is not improving and Pasternak, while good, is only just good. Draisaitl is a legit star.

I don't entirely love the trade but Pastrnak is a player we need to play with McDavid. While losing Drai Pastrnak will be a less expensive commodity while going a centre and having a first round pick come back for a draft that is suppose to be deep isn't to bad

I love this trade and said so on the bruins mock roster that you are quoting. Pastrnak will take Leon's place at 1RW (where he played much of last season). Thirty-four goals last year! He should be able to exceed that next to McDavid. Spooner is better than Kassian - especially for McLellan who likes as many centers as possible for flexibility, and the first rounder (likely 20-25th pick) is just icing on the cake. Is Draisaitl more valuable than Pastrnak? Yes, but I feel the rest of the deal balances it out. Both teams will be improved as a result.

Spooner isn't improving?! Why does he need to? If he continues to score at 0.55 p/gp (45 points per 82 games) he'd be a perfect third line center. We don't need him to improve, just hold the line.

Pastrnak scored just as well as Draisaitl last year, while not playing with McDavid. I think Pastrnak is a legitimate star, even if his ceiling isn't as high as Draisaitl's. He's only 21, so we don't really know how good he can be yet.

I agree, you should take this deal. Pastrnak will cost you less but can play just as good. There's no guarantee that Draisaitl will be able to replicate his success while driving his own line (aka NOT playing with McDavid) though of course, he's still a young star in his own right. The 2018 late first rounder in a deep draft does make this deal possible.

Boston doesn't need centers, they need wingers on both sides and Pastrnak, a 1st and Spooner. for Leon and Kassian who has had 1 good year of his NHL career. over-payment by Boston.
