The Flyers are not in win now mode, so this trade does absolutely nothing other than sending us home in the WC.

They just traded Sergachev for Drouin and now they trade Pacioretty for Sanheim? what was the point of the Drouin trade then? All this does is make that move a lateral one.

I would not trade Sanheim for Pacioretty in the current state we are in. The "rumor" (it was FAKE!) was "Sanheim and a 3rd for Pacioretty?" Yeah, the guy who "chased this rumor down" added a question mark to the end of it.

But would you do it if the Avs took Macdonald back? I think Philly could make some noise if they added Pacioretty or Galchenyuk. And they have the LD depth that moving Sanheim doesnt really hurt.

Also I realize Eklund is always full of ****. And I am assuming that MTL is still desprate for a center. Idk I think this could be worked out.

The Flyers are not trading their top defensive prospect and a 1st round pick for a winger who is 2 years away from free agency.

No because Sanheim is going to be really good in a few years. The Flyers can bury MacDonald in the minors if they have to. Also the Flyers are not a Pacioretty or Galchenyuk away from being contenders. They need to fix their defense first, which Sanheim will help in a big way.

MacDonald, although a very bad contract, is not holding the Flyers back from their current plan and there is no real need to unload his salary since they are committee to youth both on D and up front. After this year they are officially out of cap hell with about 10 million coming off the books with three guys, Filppula - Read - Manning, with expiring contracts that can be replaced with entry level deals. Additionally, I would not imagine that Hagg and Morin will no command huge raises as their contracts expire at the end of the year. MacDonald might be ours to the bitter end unless the Flyers push of a cup earlier than expected.

If we move Sanheim, Morin and Hagg must pan out. Make some noise? How much noise can you make when you are eliminated after the 1st round?
