Description
Boston is dragging their heels in signing a 21 year-old potential star... Where have we heard that before? It worked once, why not twice? Treliving takes advantage of Sweeney once again and trades for and signs Pastrnak. The word is that Pastrnak is looking for a bridge deal so a 3-year/18M deal would be a good contract in between a bridge and a long term deal. The price as CGY would need to include a couple high picks, as well as a blue chip left defensive prospect. The addition of Pastrnak, who fits the age group of CGY's core going forward could push CGY into major contender status, with already one of the top bluelines in the league. If Mike Smith can give CGY average to above average goaltending behind undoubtedly the best Defence he's ever had in front of him, CGY could do some real damage, even without Pastrnak. But with him, they could become perennial cup contenders for the next three years and beyond. Trading Brouwer with 1.5M retained would make him more palatable for potential trade partners, and would essentially be equivalent to a buyout, spread over 3 years instead of 6.

any deal with Pasta going to CGY starts with Tkachuk going back, IMO.

Pasta's not really "dragging his heels", he's being smart and waiting to see the price tag for Draisaitl in EDM before committing to a new deal.
I'd imagine he'll be looking to get about 75-80% of whatever Drai signs for. Doubt Boston will want to pony up for that, so he still may move closer to start of training camps.
Then again, who knows what he wants or expects. Naturally if the right offer comes along Sweeny will no doubt listen.
