you cant sign him for 8 years the max you can do is 7. also thats a terrible contract. you know you also have to give up your next four 1st round picks to do this right?

Anyone else notice how little cap space they would have. Plus, they would lose any chance of a future star player because of giving Edmonton a bunch of 1st rounders. How on Earth are they going to resign guys like Danault? Draisaitl is the kind of player that they need but this would probably never happen in reality.

You're right 7 year is the maximum. I'm at the same page with you guys. To get a quality player you have to give a lot. The thing is that 4 first round player select between the 22th position to 31th position (because that is where they are going to draft with Draisaitl in their lineup) has 50% to play at least 200 game in the NHL and has 11% to become a star player.

So it's a gamble ...either you get Draisaitl (a star player) or you get 4 players that has 11% to become a Draisaitl.

For those who think that you won't have enough salary space to sign other player, with a offensive core completed by (Draisaitl 10M$, Drouin 5M$, Galchenyuk projection 8M$ and Pacioretty projection 8M$) you are in business for the next 5 years years. Guys like Danault can be found easily. They are interchangeable. Look at Chicago, Pittsburgh, Anaheim... solid offense core = always contender for the cup. The rest is gravy.

The problem is the contract of Price which is to my opinion to high for a goalie (you don't need the best goalie to win the cup) ...
