Detroit could offer their whole team and it probably still wouldn't be enough

Yeah unfortunately Detroit just doesn't have the pieces to get McDavid, At least not without gutting the entire team any ways.

ya plus 1st round picks for a decade maybe. Detroit does not have enough assets to make a trade like that.

I'm a Flames fan and would love to see McChuckle leave Alberta but this isn't even an attempt at a trade? 1 NHL player (29 points last season) plus 2 (never played a game in the NHL) d-men and 1 first round pick. Add in Nyquist plus 2019 + 2020 1st round picks. Trade is after 2018 draft lottery and Detroit wins first overall pick!

Enter - CAP HELL - you have 1,165,833.00 to sign 5 forwards, 2 d-men and a goalie in 2018/19! Think... then hit the post button!

I agree Detroit just doesn't have any pieces to make a McDavid trade a reality. Our best chance is to finish in the bottom 10 for the next 2 seasons and hope the Lottery ball is kind to us. There's some generational talent in the next couple of drafts, time for Detroit to stock up and keep pushing he youth movement!
