Neither trade makes any sense:

Vegas isn't trading two cheap young, controllable assets for a 3rd round pick and two fillers., That wouldn't come close to landing either of those players, much less both of them.

And the Calgary trade is TERRIBLE for the Pens. It not only would crush their chances of 3 peating, but it would set them back years. Backlund is a good center, but he's an impending FA so it doesn't make sense to trade Maatta, Sprong and a 1st for him, esp. on top of a good rental wing in Hornqvist. Kylinton helps some, but not much.
