Lias and Winnik

Created by: Haanrngrsfn311
Team: 2017-18 New York Rangers
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 4, 2017
Published: Sep. 4, 2017
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Throughout the course of the season, having Lias Andersson make the team as well as adding Daniel Winnik allows the Rangers to not only cover the loss of Jesper Fast during the first month of the season as he recovers from hip surgery, but also rotate the 3rd and 4th line centers.

As a rookie, Lias Andersson may get caught at times where he simply needs a breather or to watch the game from the press box every once in a while. Desharnais can move up to 3rd line while Winnik takes care of the 4th line. OR if Desharnais does not play well, Winnik is there to take his place in the lineup.

I still believe Holden will in fact get traded during by the time December rolls around, likely for a draft pick or a borderline 3/4/depth center to create even more depth in case Lias can't hold down the 3rd line and both Winnik and Desharnais falter.

I think that is way to optimist for Andersson to be a regular next season. And Winnick is really a LWer.

I'm uncertain about Andersson being a regular next year as well but with the lack of depth there I really think he makes the team. Is he an all-star rookie year? Of course not but I believe if he makes the team, he'll have respectable play/numbers for an 18 year old rookie in the NHL.

Yes Winnik is more of a winger but he CAN play Center if absolutely needed to, kinda like Pirri last year.

I also think that come the deadline, they'll make a deal with San Jose for Joe Thornton to team him up with his buddy Nash. This would push Andersson to the 4th line or in a rotation with Desharnais depending on their respective play. What do you think of something like that going down later on in the season?

Nice!!!!! This is the most realistic scenario to start the season. Quiet summer and even more quiet during season, trade wise throughout NHL. Out of the few trades this year, I would assume gm J Gordon will be one of them. And of course Pitt gm J Rutherford will make a ballsy move before tdl... We better trade "at least" 2/3 of these; Nash, Grabner, Holden. Like every other team we're looking for cheap, young, good, fast players and one home run.
