Absolutely terrible. Sakic isn't trading duchene for spare parts. Habs don't have the assets to acquire duchene since they traded sergy. Unless sakic is interested in galchenyuk but I doubt that as he wants a D

The habs definitely have the assets. They have 2 of the top goaltending prospects (Lindgren, and McNiven) and are stacked on the wings so they could trade some prospects there (hudon, scherbak, reway, Ikonen, mccarron, poehling, De la rose, etc.) They have good defensive prospects (bourque, mete, juulson, lernout) although I wouldn't trade them seeing as they just traded sergachev. Lastly galchenyuk or another roster player like danault or lehkonen could be traded. I forgot about draft picks too.

In summary, yes they without a doubt have the assets to acquire Duchene... most teams do they just aren't stupid enough give in to what sakic is asking for.

The trade in this thread isn't enough for Duchene but it isn't far off of fair value. The longer colorado waits the more value duchene loses as he comes closer to unrestricted free agency.

If Duchene doesnt show up to camp and the "price does drop" CBJ NYI NSH CAR and PIT could and probably would beat that offer.

drouins value sure did drop after he "didn't report" stunt. Oh wait no it didn't

Exaggeration of pending RFA vs UFA in 2 years but the point remains. Value just doesnt disappear day by day until they are treaded for a song and a dance.
