"Team will have to rebuild within the next few years"...

Proceeds to acquire Brent Seabrook. Also, if Backstrom is getting you a handful of 2nds then there is no way intarnation that Niskanen gets you Chabot + picks.

Lmao wtf

A lot of these trade values are major overpays. Why is Arizona going to pay a couple of 1sts (plus other picks) to take on Oshie in his declining years. Vegas isn't giving up picks to take on aging veterans like Seabrook (even with his lower salary), they are taking on those types of players if you give them assets. I also don't understand why Dallas is trading all those picks for Carlson when the guy is going to be an FA. And why would Carlson re-sign if he's just going to be traded?

Yes Chabot is a really good prospect, that is why Ottawa would be crazy to trade him and 3 picks including a 1st for Niskanen. Esp. since Ottawa needs younger cheaper players given how bloated some of their contract currently are.

Yea hes a great prospect. My point was that if Backstrom is getting an underpay, why is Niskanen getting an overpay?

Caps just signed a bunch of key players to new deals. Why would they sell everything off and rebuild?

I don't think they're looking to, but if they're offered all these deals at once, they'd be crazy not to accept! Fourteen first round picks in three years? And a weak enough roster to make sure three of those are in lottery position? Plus another twenty-three in the second and third rounds? Yeah. That works. I think they'd make these trades for "hockey reasons." And then hire a dozen more amateur scouts, full time.
