trouba is likely a goner. laine is going to get at the least 10.5m to 12.5m considering what the market could be moving forward.

Teams that constantly out of the playoffs should not have cap issues.....because it obvious their players aren't good enough. I don't think Draisaitl contract is the new norm. No reason why a team has to sign players to such long term deals anyway, unless an offer sheet comes in. At some time, Trouba has to be traded. He's obviously want to leave after 7 years a Jet at most and not sign a long term deal.

I'd be totally surprised if Trouba signs in Winnipeg for $7 million per, He could easily on the open market get close to $7.5 million to $8 million per on a long term deal.

Except that he is an RFA and it would cost a team 4 first round picks to offer him that contract which Winnipeg could still match if they so chose.

Trouba is under contract for one year then 2 years of arbitration, so he a under Jets' control for three more years. Let's imagine the Jets are doing well in near TDL 2020, they still may not want to trade him cause they need him to make the playoffs or maybe even higher aspirations. I can't imagine a team making an offer sheet which might cost at least 2 firsts and second rounder, if they wait 2 years and get him for free.

A few things to point out...Unless Ehlers goes nuts this year, he won't get more than 5/5.5 per year(unless its a bridge deal and its less). Armia same thing but 1.5/2 per year. Trouba(I agree with the others about his contract) and Laine will only get his 9/10 mill in 4 years or so.
