While I'd be happy to see Pittsburgh move some top young assets, I'm not sure they would do this deal. The reason is that Duchene has the talent to play 1C and on the Pens lineup he's at best a 3C. He's clearly not moving Sid or Malkin out for either of their spots. The Pens can probably find an effective 3C cheaper than giving up a top 4D, a 1st and change. The only solid reason I can think of for making this type of move is for hedging your bet on injuries, which is legit. However, the price of that hedge is to really neuter your defense. With this lineup you're relying on Letang or Schultz to not get hurt and on playing enough minutes to make up for a rough 3rd pairing. Risky.

I like it, it leaves some cap room and I would like to see Pouliot get a chance with the big team.
