How to fix the Sens for next season

Created by: JAKUB_GM_23
Team: 2017-18 Ottawa Senators
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 12, 2017
Published: Oct. 12, 2017
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Trades
1.
OTT
  1. Duchene, Matt
Additional Details:
If the Avalanche miss the playoffs and the Sens make the playoffs; The Sens have to give up their 2019 2nd and a 2018 3rd.
COL
  1. Ceci, Cody
  2. Turris, Kyle
Additional Details:
This deal works for both sides. Both Turris and Duchene are 1st line centers, and both are on the block for both sides IRL. You could say that the trade won't be beneficial for the Senators as they have gotten rid of a solid defenseman and a 1st line center for an arguably "overrated" center. Although, Both Turris and Ceci are going to need new contracts at the end of the season; Turris is going to want a steep upgrade from the current $3.5 million salary and Ceci might want at least 3 million. Which would leave some wiggle room for White and Stone's contracts at the end of the season. Remember that the Avs need an upgrade in defense as they have Bernier as their backup and Varlamov as their starter. It just works for both sides. The 2nd and 3rd is mainly because Sakic has a steep asking price for Duchene.
2.
CHI
  1. Pyatt, Tom
  2. 2018 5th round pick (OTT)
Additional Details:
A necessary slight upgrade on the right side, seeing that the middle is stacked in Ottawa. Just a small swap.
3.
OTT
  1. 2018 6th round pick (LAK)
LAK
  1. Borowiecki, Mark
Additional Details:
Removal of a mostly useless player. Honestly, the trade is good on both sides as Claesson to play full minutes and the Kings get a 3rd line defenseman when they really need one.
4.
VGK
  1. Paul, Nicholas
  2. Perron, Francis
Additional Details:
Vegas gives up a reasonable 3rd line winger for two low value prospects. Ottawa does this deal since MacArthur is on LTIR.

Boro isn’t going anywhere and is far from useless, Paul was supposed to make the team out of camp before he got hurt. Feeling ottawa isn’t your home team based on views of players

That's an overpayment for Duchene considering he and Turris are equals in almost every way.
Pyatt is second among all forwards in blocked shots per game and is important to our PK. Bouma does neither of those things.
Boro laid 80 MORE hits than any other D last year. Never shies away from blocking shots and will fight when needed and more importantly NOT fight for no reason. He's not amazing but as a 6th/7th D man he's good to have.
Perron was a beast in the Q, and like many smaller snipers, struggled his first year in the AHL, but he has potential to be another Hoffman. I don't see the benefit of trading that potential away for 32 year old Bellemare who will fill the same needs as Nate Thompson who you buried.
