I'm a little surprised that you'd pass. Okposo is physical and a nice player to have he's just also a doesn't do much defensively and the effort to play defense is sometimes questionable. (I'll admit I haven't watch much this year, but a turnaround in 4 games is hard to see.) He always has been even with the islanders. Gio gives Buffalo a better defense which is HUGE! That's exactly what they need. They can make up for Okposo with relative ease. You're right about the age though. It's not truly that close.

As a flames fan, i would say big massive no to that. Why we should give up our best defensman and the captain for a third-liner with a terrible cap? I would understand if Sabres were giving up ROR straight up for Gio, but still i would decline that trade too.
