No, the cap isn't killing the Leafs. Bad decisions, bad contracts kill teams. Leafs are just one of 30 teams that have to decide to spend their cap money. Haven't all teams had to do with this problem earlier?
Komarov is going to have to be replaced by someone cheaper and younger....maybe not as good initially but that's the way it is. Same with JVR and even likely Bozak. Giving those guys such long term contract is how teams get in cap hell. Spend long term contracts for younger players if you want to give out long term contracts.

TML2000: I have to agree with Pal on this one in that there has to be some natural transition between long term veterans and younger players on ELC for proper cap management. You have resigned virtually all of our veterans. Komorov, JVR, Bozak, Gardiner, while trying to manage the long term obligations to our young stars. You have no flexibility and a roster of only 20 players which is not feasible. You have also assumed that you can move Marleau (which very well may be possible). Your actual #'s are very likely in the ballpark but still won't allow you to sign everyone. Outside of any moves between now and then, it is very likely that of the 4 above you may be able to keep one, (tough calls need be made) and fill with the depth of our system and draft picks. Shoshnikov, Grundstrom, Dermott, and even Bracco come to mind. Let's enjoy all that is FINALLY a good Maple Leafs lineup with solid depth, but fully realize that significant changes are coming!
