The thing is though, why does MTL even do this then?

Either we get an equally good player(s) back or we get a bunch of picks and prospects back or we keep Price. Moving

Price for the sake of moving him doesn't help us. We'd be spending more money with Ladd and Greiss in this case then if we just kept Price...... Ok yeah the 1st rounder is nice but so is having Price.

You can't re-sign Tavares because he is already signed to a contract this year.

If you created a 2018-19 team, he would be sign-able.
