Shipachyov has 3 games of NHL experience and you make him a #1C, You can't be serious.

If he couldn't make the roster on a expansion team, why would mtl want him. Also, obv Gallant doesn't like the way he plays, and the habs management respect his opinion highly. he was a coach with the organization a few years ago.

Yeah, so to repeat what everyone already said; he'll go through waivers.

Thing is tho, I wouldn't exactly pick him up and play jom on the first line. He's noted as a player with a lack of discipline. Could be a distraction in the locker room more than anything else.
